Nausea in the morning is most often associated with pregnancy. But another thing that also often causes nausea in the morning is gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

GERD is a disease in which the valve between the esophagus and stomach experiences weakness. So that food and stomach acid can rise again to the upper gastrointestinal tract (esophagus).

  • Lactose intolerance, bile disorder, pancreatic disorders
  • Gastrointestinal infections and food poisoning

If you have a history of sexual intercourse during the fertile period, you can do a pregnancy examination using a test pack when you experience menstrual delays.

If the results are negative, repeat 3-7 days later. Then if the results remain negative, the possibility of nausea in the morning is caused by GERD.

  • Eat in small amounts but more often
  • Try to keep your stomach not completely empty and not too full
  • Avoid consuming foods that are too oily, sour, or too spicy
  • Avoid drinks like coffee, tea, soft drinks
  • Do not lie down or move too hard after eating
  • Don’t eat too much before you sleep at night, and raise your headrest while you sleep
  • Avoid smoking and consuming alcohol
  • If you have excess weight, lower your weight to reach the ideal
  • You can take drugs to neutralize stomach acid such as antacids, especially before you go to bed at night
